Marshal Zhukov was a Russian Minister of Defense in the old Soviet regime. We have no idea how robust he was, but the pear named in his honour is extremely hardy, so that’s good enough for us. This attractive new variety provides another viable option for areas where winter temperatures drop below -40°C. Fruit size is variable, ranging from quite large to supersize at well over ¾ pound! The tender, very juicy flesh consistently ranks high in taste tests with one review reporting a 5 out of 5. To sum it up - high quality fruit from a productive, disease resistant tree which stays relatively compact.
