Tundra was one of the first stars to emerge from the up-and-coming haskap breeding program at the University of Saskatchewan. Although berry size is smaller than most newer introductions, Tundra is still favoured for it's high yields and fruit which is very firm, yet tender enough to melt in your mouth. Excellent sweet/tangy flavour. Tundra will hang on the bush well after ripening. The sum total of it's unique attributes keeps it the first pick for mechanical harvesting.
PLANT WITH AURORA | ZONE 2 | HARVEST: MID JUNE
Although Haskaps are extremely hardy, they do seem to take more time to establish than most young plants. Since first year growth is rather slow, it is especially critical to maintain moisture levels and keep weed competition under control.
